RNM-121: Environmental research: Geological risks and geotechnical engineering
The research group RNM-121: Environmental research: Geological risks and terrain engineering was already constituted in the first call made by the Andalusian Research Plan. It is made up of graduates in Geology, Civil Engineering, Chemical Sciences and Cartographic Engineering grouped in the Departmental Section of Ground Engineering of the Department of Civil Engineering of the University of Granada.
They carry out all kinds of research activities and contracts with companies in the field of ground engineering, relating to the study of the mechanical behaviour of soils, the pathologies they present in relation to properties, dwellings and public and private infrastructures.
They are preferably dedicated to the study of unstable areas, landslides and land processes that generate risks both from the point of view of their consequences and causes as well as prevention.
The main lines of research are as follows:
- Characterisation of mechanical properties of soils and rocks, associated risks.
- Soil pathology. Identification, mapping and analysis of unstable areas and associated risks.
