RNM-121: Environmental Research: Geological Risks and Geotechnical Engineering
The group was already established at the time of the first meeting held by the Andalusian Research Plan. It is made up of people qualified in geology, civil engineering, chemical sciences and cartographic engineering grouped together in the Geotechnical Engineering Departmental Section of the Civil Engineering Department at the University of Granada.
They carry out all types of research activities and have contracts with companies in the geotechnical engineering field, concerning the study of the mechanical behaviour of earth materials, and their conditions as regards properties, housing and public and private infrastructures.
Preferably, they devote themselves to the study of unstable areas, landslides and earth processes that generate risks from both the point of view of their consequences and causes, and for their prevention.
