Language control mechanisms in bilingual people and translators
The topic studies the benefits for attention of using these mechanisms intensively. The group has data that demonstrate that bilingual people activate their two languages even in situations where only one is needed; this makes it necessary for them to use attention processes to reduce the distraction produced by the active language whose use is unnecessary. The research examines the conditions in which the languages are activated and also the attention processes controlling the languages and the benefits that the constant use of these processes confers.
