The HUM-835 group was created on 1^st February 2006 and its main aims are the study and analysis of concepts that are very common in our present society, such as interculturalism, immigration or integration. These aims are achieved by developing and perfecting appropriate tools and techniques, such as cultural mediation, translation and interpreting, linguistic studies or journalistic discourse.

The group is also interested in the study of issues relating to the Arabic language, such as dialectology, linguistic and legal advice for immigrants, Hispano-Arab relations, Arab popular culture, communications media in the Arab world and the Arab-Andalusian cultural legacy, among others. The founding members of this group are acknowledged specialists in these subjects.
