It is well known that the pathogenic mechanisms underlying hypertension and other cardiovascular risk factors are immensely complex and relatively poorly understood, which is one of the reasons why we decided to analyse the role of these two trace elements in this disease.
The results obtained to date include some degree of zinc and magnesium deficiency which, once corrected by way of the corresponding dietary recommendations and oral supplements, is accompanied by improved cardiovascular and metabolic control in these patients.
