This research group was formed in 1994, and in 2003 it became part of the National Research Network for Hepatology and Gastroenterology (RNIHG C03/02). Furthermore, it has been part of the Biomedical Research Centre Network for Liver and Digestive Diseases (CIBERehd) since 2006. Their research activity has mainly focussed on liver diseases in adults and children, and the monitoring of children at high risk. Throughout this time they have pursued lines of research in hepatocarcinoma, obesity and fatty liver, and cancer of the colon.
