BIO-212: Biochemical and Genetic Regulation of Metabolism

The research group "Biochemical and Genetic Regulation of Metabolism" was created in 1989 by the lecturer Alberto Manuel Vargas Morales. The aim of the group since its inception has been the application of basic knowledge of the regulation of gene expression and metabolism to physiopathological situations in which these processes are involved, for both animal and plant metabolism. Thus, the research group has developed tools in recent years to study physiopathological processes such as diabetes and proliferation and differentiation in muscular cells at a molecular level on cell cultures; and, in the field of molecular plant physiology, the processes of ripening and resistance to damage by cold in fruits and plants.
