The research group was created in 2001 with the objective of combining and linking ageing and ageing processes with the social and cultural dimensions that surround ageing in our time. One of the group’s main lines of research is concerned with education with elderly people as an active form of participation for people in this collective in terms of sociocultural terms and “empowerment” of their own life course in order to achieve goals of the highest level in terms of self-esteem and their own personal drive. The group has also worked on studies of active participation in homes for the elderly, with the aim of improving the “social climate” dimensions in them and ensuring suitable treatment of residents by the care staff.
