Control and manipulation of atoms and molecules using external fields

The use of static electrical fields and laser pulses to alter the rotational dynamics of cold molecules. The aim of this topic is to propose realistic schemes for aligning and orienting such systems.

The use of a non-resonant laser field to control the Feschbach-type resonances of a diatomic molecule in order to optimise the formation of ultracold molecules from ultracold atoms is of particular interest.

Analysis of the impact of combined magnetic and electrical fields on polyatomic Rydberg molecules to investigate the stability of these ultracold systems in a magnetic trap.
