FQM-307: Modelling and forecasting using functional data
The main aim of this research group is to study new data-analysis methods based on the functional statistics methodology. The group is concerned with four inter-related fields, namely functional regression, penalised functional estimation, the modelling of counting processes based on their sample functions and the modelling of reliability systems. The starting point for this research is the functional principal components analysis (FPCA), which has previously been studied by the group. An additional goal is to develop easy-to-use software in each of these fields, using programs implemented in R, and to approach various problems using real data from chemometry, environmental sciences and engineering.
Similarly, the Group maintains an open line of collaboration in applied statistical research in the biosanitary and bibliometric area.
The main lines of research are as follows:
- Regression and prediction with functional data.
- Penalised estimation in functional data analysis.
- Reliability of systems.
