FQM-195: Coordination chemistry and structural analysis

The research group is mainly concerned with the synthesis and characterisation of coordination complexes containing various ligands, using either single-crystal or microcrystalline-powder X-ray diffraction techniques as the main characterisation procedure. Although this is a common research element, the group's activities cover a wide range of fields, including the study of coordination compounds of possible biological interest that could have antimicrobial or antitumoural properties, compounds with interesting magnetic properties, the construction of open metal-organic crystalline frameworks (MOFs) and the design and study of nanoparticles.

The main lines of research are as follows:

- Analysis of mineral structures and artificial compounds.

- Construction of the Crystallography Open Database.

- Magnetostructural correlation in metal complexes.

- Design, synthesis and characterisation of metal complexes of biological interest.

- Porous coordination polymers.
