The Sc@ut project is a research project that aims to improve the communication skills of the group of people with special educational needs. The premises from which this initiative starts are the search for an adaptive alternative communication system that meets the following aspects:
- Improve personal autonomy: make it portable and small
- Low cost
- Make it easy to learn and intuitive interface
- That facilitates the pedagogical work of teachers and parents
- That allows to analyze the student's performance
Sc@ut is based on the design of personalized communicators. A communicator is a set of linked templates designed for a specific user with a specific interaction profile. A template offers a set of images with or without text that basically emit sounds when collected, in such a way that the interlocutor can know what the person using it wants by looking at the images or listening to the sounds.
