Design of controllers based on soft computing to improve virtual cars in racing videogames

Videogames are an excellent field of application for soft computing techniques. In particular, simulated car racing is gaining the interest of the scientific community as being an excellent benchmark for learning, adaptation, reasoning, evolution, etc. The group has designed, implemented and evaluated two controllers for a car in a racing videogame in the public domain (TORCS), winning the "Simulated Car Racing Competition" in its 2009 and 2010 editions. This work was carried out in collaboration with the Automation and Robotics Centre, at the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), Madrid.
