The TIC-175: Intelligent Systems research group develops its research within various cutting-edge topics of Soft Computing and Intelligent Systems since 1993. The members of the group are integrated into the Andalusian Interuniversity Institute in Data Science and Computational Intelligence.

The group is currently investigating topics such as help with decision-making in emergency situations, human-robot interaction or knowledge extraction. The basic techniques used are: fuzzy logic, neural networks, rule-based models, genetic algorithms, intelligent planning and scheduling techniques, vision, among others.

His lines of research are the following:
- Autonomous robotics, active vision and machine learning.
- Planning and intelligent automation of processes.
- Machine learning and Big Data. Extraction and representation of knowledge for problem solving.
