The research group SEJ-476: Economic History, Institutions and Development was created in 2007 with the aim of studying and elaborating analyzes within the framework of development from a historical perspective and with special emphasis on the institutional sphere.

It starts from a situation of equality and the rotation of the position of principal investigator on a biennial basis is accepted to meet the objectives, monthly seminars have been held with guests from the rest of Spanish and foreign universities.

Other institutions have been able to finance part of the cost of these seminars, such as the Faculty of Economic and Business Sciences of the University of Granada or the Euro-Arab Foundation.

The lines of research are the following:
- Institutions and development.
- History and regional economy.
- History of economic thoughts.
- Industrial organization and government policies.
