The research group SEJ-114: European Union was created in 1995 with the aim of channeling the research carried out towards a better knowledge of the closest economic environment and being able to shed more light on the solutions to the problems raised. The main contribution of the group is its long history and its marked inclination for work related to the international environment, especially the European Union, the Maghreb, Latin America and the opening of the Andalusian economy.

The main lines of research are:
- Analysis of the socioeconomic variables that define the economic structure of Andalusia.
- Impact of European policies on the Andalusian community.
- Internationalization of the Andalusian economy.
- Andalusia's relations with the Maghreb, especially with Morocco.
