RNM-333: Preserving the geological heritage of Andalusia: inventory and scientific analysis of endogenous rocky outcrops in the Baetica mountains

The group was created in 2002 as an evolution of no. 4072, with the incorporation of new members belonging to different Andalusian administrations and companies working in the area of assessing and preserving the region’s geological heritage.

The group’s main objective is to study and assess igneous rock outcrops, with the tendency to propose the preservation of certain outcrops which due to their exceptionally valuable scientific, cultural or educational characteristics should be preserved from any exploitation to form part of the geological heritage of Andalusia.

What may be of interest to a company when requiring the group’s services is the ability to carry out the petrological study of igneous and metamorphic rock outcrops, making the distinction between those that can be exploited for various industrial uses, which would involve their being destroyed, and those that should be preserved and due to their characteristics form part of the geological heritage of Andalusia, and which may also be exploited but for scientific, cultural, tourist and/or teaching uses.
