RNM-172: Carbon materials

The research group RNM-172: Carbon Materials was set up in 1988, with the intention of joining forces in the research activity of lines of work that focused, fundamentally, on the physico-chemical characterisation of carbon materials and their applications in decontamination; and as catalysts and catalyst supports.

The main lines of research are as follows:

- Carbon materials as adsorbents of pollutants in the aqueous phase.

- Carbon materials as adsorbents of pollutants in the gas phase.

- Carbon materials as catalysts and catalyst supports.

- Preparation and characterisation of carbon materials: activated carbons, carbon aerogels and xerogels.

- Environmental radioactivity, radiochemistry and environmental radiological control.

- Synthesis of new carbon materials as supercapacitor electrodes.
