RNM-148: Structural geology and tectonics

A consolidated research group since 1995, with a large training capacity and in continuous growth as regards the number of members, the majority being doctors. To its initial lines of research (structural analysis and tectono-metamorphic evolution of active and ancient orogenic zones), other new lines have been added that have major implications and repercussions on current society, in particular related to the assessment of certain natural risks. The quality of the research results is backed up by its list of publications. Many members of the research group have experience in advice and writing of technical reports for public and private companies, among which are:

  • Geological cartography.

  • Fracture of rocky bodies and its viability as an ornamental rock.

  • Stability of slopes and embankments on rocky massifs and soils.

  • Analysis of clay and marl soils with expansion and shrinkage capacity.

  • Risks of a geological character.
