This research group dedicated to the study of flora and taxonomy of vascular plant, was formed in January 1988 by members of the Botany Department of the Science Faculty. Over the years, new members have joined the research group from the University of Extremadura, and the archaebiology group research (CCHS and CSIC), and new lines of research have been developed. Currently, the research of the group is based on the biology and systematics of vascular flora, biological air contaminants, yield forecast, flora in the fossil record, the use of archaeology for palaeoenvironmental studies, and characterisation of climatic and palaeoeconomic changes.
