The links between America and Andalusia have been analysed on numerous occasions, paying attention to the long historiographical tradition of this issue, although there are fewer studies that deal with the particular issue of cultural relations, focusing on Andalusian presence on American lands and those that have tend to be fleetingly concerned with a specific artist or historical moment. In this sense the research group has been a pioneer thanks to the funding received from the Andalusian Regional Government for a Project of Excellence, the aim of which is to identify these influences and relations by cataloguing artistic objects, Andalusian iconography, patrons and principals from the region and artists who have established themselves and are active on the American continent. The group’s work also includes historiography produced by Andalusians and the reception of American works, a work that is essentially one of exchange patronage
