Preparation of a frequency list of 7,125 words, extracted from several mega-corpora. This compilation constitutes a complete and trustworthy register of the most frequent words in the English language, from which valid items may be selected for designing syllabuses and lexical materials. Vocabulary tests may also be prepared from the list for lexical measurement of pupils.
A list of the 2,688 most frequent collocations in the English language has also been compiled from the most trustworthy computerised corpora.
