The supply and exchange of amber is a key element in the study of long-distance exchanges and the development of social complexity in Europe. This line of research focuses on the provenance characterisation of peninsular amber objects by FTIR analysis. We analyse the fluctuations in the use of amber over time, the changes in its origin, the long-distance exchanges established for its supply and the changes in the social value that this raw material may have acquired over time.
