This line of research would be oriented towards the analysis of metallurgical technology from an archaeometric point of view but keeping archaeological questions at the centre of the research. The data generated from material characterisation analysis techniques will constitute the basis on which to reconstruct: metallurgical technology from a holistic perspective (from the mine to the object); the mechanisms through which technological innovations are adopted, adapted, modified or rejected and their social implications; the interaction of metallurgy with other activities; the processes of transmission of technological knowledge or metal exchanges over time, as well as the social value acquired by metal in specific social contexts.
