The group was created on 01/01/1995. Having a common interest in professional practice in contemporary art, the people who make up the group wished to research two subjects that are fundamental to and inseparable from our professional and teaching vocation: materials in contemporary art and the use of the image in the new media.

Both subjects are closely linked to technological development and to the appearance of materials and media that go beyond traditional art practices. The work of the research group is based at the Image Laboratory (Laboratorio de Imagen), attached to the Department of Painting in the Faculty of Fine Arts.
