Theoretical study and simulation of the emergent properties of actual neural media in order to understand their functionality and the possible causes of an abnormal behaviour that could provoke neurodegenerative disease, as well as to design and develop new paradigms for biologically inspired artificial neural networks that may find technological applications in science and engineering.
