Development of internal standards for quantitative analysis of substances of interest
The research group studies and develops chemical processes that use water as a solvent and/or a clean and cheap source of hydrogen atoms. In this regard, the processes mediated by titanocene (III) complexes enable the researchers to carry out reduction processes of various functional groups (epoxides, multiple C-C bonds) using water as a source of hydrogen atoms. The use of deuterated water allows the preparation of compounds marked with deuterium. Specifically, they have prepared deuterated tyrosol and they have successfully used it in the determination of this compound in olive leaf extracts. They are also interested in the extension of this methodology to other compounds of industrial and analytical interest in the food field.
