Lipid disorders, which are a major problem in the West and other developed countries, together with smoking and hypertension, are the three main risk factors behind serious diseases such as stroke, ischaemic heart disease, renal failure and peripheral arteriopathy.
As a result, and in light of the high number of patients with this problem seen by us, we have been undertaking research in order to gain a better understanding of dyslipidaemia and develop the appropriate therapeutic measures. As is the case for the previous research topic, the results achieved to date are highly promising and encourage us to continue working in this field.
