Oral and intravenous bisphosphonates
Bisphosphonates are drugs that are used in the treatment of osteoporosis, as well as in patients with multiple myeloma and with breast, lung or prostate cancer metastasis to bone. One of the adverse effects to the oral cavity of bisphosphonates is osteonecrosis of the jaw (ONJ), which occurs mainly with intravenous bisphosphonates. The researchers are looking for new predictive factors that enable the appearance of ONJ to be prevented, as well as ONJ prevention and treatment protocols
