The research group was formed in 1995, when it was officially recognised by the Andalusian Regional Government. The general background of the group's researchers is in health psychology and behavioural medicine, these being around the contribution of the psychological factors and processes to both the protection and promotion of health and the prevention, treatment, rehabilitation and management of diseases. Currently, the number of members and collaborators has risen to 20 people, 8 of whom are doctors
