CTS-263: Melatonin and its implications in oral pathology
The group was created in 2002, approximately, as a result of the various publications that were being produced about this molecule, particularly due to its actions on the immune system and on oxidative stress. The set objectives were those of assessing these functions on the oral cavity, and seeking clinical applications of melatonin in different oral pathologies. Research was carried out on the action of melatonin on oral inflammatory processes, on osteointegration and on the immune system. As a consequence of this, there were numerous publications in magazines with a high impact index.
We intend to go into greater depth in the antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and bone action aspects of melatonin, applying these actions to oral cavity pathologies, and at the same time attempting to find a therapeutic benefit.
