The Endocrinology and Metabolism Research Group was formed in 1990 when the Autonomous Government of Andalusia decided to build up Andalusian research, urging its researchers to join together in large research groups so that scientific devices, human resources, and efforts could be assembled to take on large projects and high-quality scientific research could be achieved.

The group’s research is largely based on the biochemical study of endocrine systems in experimental animals and humans, using hormone determination as its research base. Given that hormones are capable of regulating gene expression, our research has broadened to quantifying the transcription and expression of genes regulated by hormones and the crystallization of proteins.

The group has demonstrated research maturity and seriousness supported by the numerous scientific contributions made throughout this time, which has allowed it to become a strong research group. The group’s scientific experience, its human capacity, as pivotal as the scientific devices it uses, allows it to manage cutting-edge technology capable of resolving any problem related to hormone determination and quantifying gene expression and transcription.
