Global response to copper

Copper, even though it is a toxic element, is used as a cofactor by many enzymes involved in vital processes. Using M. xanthus as a model, the global response to copper was studied over the complete life cycle. The knowledge that this line of research generates may be useful in the medium term in applications such as the construction of vectors for overexpression of proteins or the production of biosensors.
