Prokaryotic development

The myxobacteria used as a model are capable of carrying out a complex life cycle in adverse nutritional conditions. Nutrient depletion makes the cells migrate to specific points, where they aggregate and form macroscopic structures called fruiting bodies, in the interior of which myxospores are ultimately formed.

This line of research is focussed on the study of molecular mechanisms of signal transduction used by M. xanthus, specifically in eukaryotic-type protein kinase, and in the two component systems, using functional genomics, proteomics, transcriptomics and classic molecular biology approaches
