Development and use of new diagnostic methods for leishmaniasis
The research group has developed a PCR-ELISA technique that allows the specific diagnosis of leishmaniasis caused by Leishmania infantum with great sensitivity and specificity. Additionally, they have developed a version in quantitative real-time PCR format that provides greater convenience and speed and with the advantage of allowing the parasite load to be quantified.
Additionally, the research group has developed a multiplex quantitative real-time PCR that can differentiate between L. tropica, L. mayor and L. infantum.
