Porres Lab
At Porres Lab we study how to prevent and treat obesity, as well as other associated pathologies. We are a team born from the AGR-145 research group: Digestive physiology and nutrition.
Under the direction of Dr. Jesús María Porres Foulquie, our laboratory is working on new ways of treating pathologies such as obesity, MAFLD, diabetes and metabolic syndrome. The laboratory is in a continuous search for new antioxidant compounds and new protein sources, mainly through the use of agricultural waste. In addition, these methodologies are combined with physical exercise.
Research areas:
- Development of preclinical models of obesity and associated disorders: study of molecular mechanisms involved in the development of pathologies.
- Bioactive compounds, nutraceuticals and physical exercise for the treatment and prevention of obesity, metabolic syndrome and colorectal cancer in preclinical models.
- Nutritional and functional assessment of new protein sources and vegetable oils. Combined effect with physical exercise.
